I had never loved art, for whatever it was. I can't draw, I hate singing, I once learned to play guitar in famous official music course in town but I stopped because I didn't like it, I just hate art. But after living for 19 years old, I finally fall in love with art, yes, it is marketing.
So let me introduce you to it,
Philip Kotler, one of marketing people in world, defines marketing as
satisfying needs and wants through an exchange process.The key is, it is for satisfying people, and it requires a process.
Just like the other arts, marketing is consisted by many things. There are marketing planning, marketing research, marketing communication, marketing mix, and others. And all of them can not be separated. To reach such as propose in satisfying needs and wants, you gotta work on them all.
You define target market, it is an art.
You create a design, it is an art.
You innovate, it is an art,
You communicate your products, it is an art.
You influence other to believe in you, it is also an art!
But remember, Though marketing is also a process of communicating to influence others in order to buy your products, marketing is different from advertising. (I'm gonna write a post about it later in syaa Allah)
Speaking about marketing, as an Indonesian, we should be proud because Indonesia has a father of marketing, Hermawan Kartajaya (@hermawank). He was named named by the United Kingdom’s Chartered Institute of Marketing on the list of "50 Gurus Who Have Shaped the Future of Marketing" that includes the likes of Philip Kotler, David Aaker, Gary Hamel, Tom Peters, and Seth Godin in 20013.
Hermawan Kartajaya is also a founder and president of MarkPlus, Inc., a leading marketing professional service firm in ASEAN. He wrotes a book titled Marketing 3.0: From Mind to Heart to the Human Spirit, which is translated into 23 languanges.
